When asked about the hardest part of being in his position, Alex doesn’t hesitate. “The backlash from other local businesses who don’t want to see me succeed because I’m different. I have a different vision of what a restaurant should be. But El Vago stands on its own.”

From school supply drives and free meals for kids during the summer to toy collections during the holidays, Alex and his team consistently give back. “What we do for the community often gets overlooked,” Alex says. “We don’t do it for likes, shares, or clout. We do it because it’s the right thing to do.”
